>Rosa canina or dog rose.

There are various theories on the origin of the name.

One goes that it was a disparaging cachet (in the context of “worthless”) compared with cultivated roses.

Some other chappy claims that it was used at one time to treat the bites of rabid dogs.

Whatever.

But the hips are chock-full of Vitamin C, the plant is absolutely bursting with antioxidants.

And the NVA used to dry the hips and smoke them mixed with tobacco for a mild buzz.

Could be something to that.

After all, they did win….
