Having cleaned out the hedgerows of blackberries, mirabelles, Morello cherries and grapes that are left on the vines after the mechanical harvester has been through, it’s now time for walnuts.

Huge tree in the middle of nowhere, the ground under it strewn with fresh walnuts that have just popped out of the protective husk.
