Monthly Theme Day – June 2024 – Outdoor cafes

There is but one worthy of the title in Mainz.

The Kaffeekommune in the Breidenbacherstrasse, halfway up the Gaugass on your right.

If you’re not bothered if your coffee is going to taste like thrice-used bath water, but you’re dead keen on that 1000 calorie slab of cream cake, then you’re well served by anything sprinkled around the cathedral square

But if you appreciate seriously good espresso based drinks, served by really cool folk (including a delightful young Latvian, Lithuanian, a medical student, Sebastian whom I’ve known longest, an Eli who writes wonderfully, a lawyer, a senior police officer-ess on sabbatical and Jan who braves all weathers and motorway traffic on his micro Honda motorbike) and run by my friend Paul Bonna, who crowdfunds the entire harvest of a Columbian coffee grower, giving them a really good price by cutting out the middlemenpeople and is one of Germany’s top baristas, then this is the place for you.
