Merck, the mega life science outfit in Darmstadt has its own philharmonic orchestra and an annual event is the Summer concert in the gardens of Schloss Kranichstein, a baroque hunting lodge built in 1578 for George I, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt.

Stunningly good program, 3000 punters.

Who towards the close of the concert are exhorted to join the fun by belting out….
