There are 3 types of fun.
Type 1 fun is enjoyable while it’s happening. Also known as, simply, fun.
Type 2 fun is miserable while it’s happening, but fun in retrospect.
Type 3 fun is not fun at all. Not even in retrospect. It was shitty while you were riding. All the time. And you can think all you want – there were no redeeming features to the day.
Unmitigated shit
One for the bin
Today was Type 1.
On steroids.
Easy just-under-50km in a bit over 2 hours, slightly overcast, 18°C to start, didn’t get higher than 22C, not a breath of wind.
Picked up some salad plugs from Steins in Gonso, finally found the way down through the Schierstein bridge building site to the Rhine on the other side of the river, double espresso with Eli and Sharona at Kaffeekommune, discovered a new MASSIVE Asian supermarket on the top floor of an organic supermarket I never go to, San Marzano tomatoes from the garden on sourdough from Pankratiushof with a sprinkling of furikake for lunch.
Pot of green tea with a piece of apple cake from our friend Alice according to her (Polish) mum’s recipe.
An Island Life IPA from Eddyline Brewery in Nelson before dinner
Yep, definitely a Type 1 day…
