Or 1950, for that matter?
(I was mostly still unaware of what was going on, so I can’t help)
But if you were George Washington, you’d be giving the first State of the Nation address.
If you were Cosi Fan Tutte, you were premiering at the Burgtheatre in Vienna
If you were one of 697,624 slaves in the US, you were being included in the census of a total population of 3,929,214
If you were a chrysanthemum, you were being introduced to England from China
And if you were Captain James Cook, you had just introduced yourself to natives in Hawaii who promptly proceeded to murder you.
Bloody Americans. Nothing changes.
And if you were the Neues Schloss (New Castle) in Guntersblum, you’d be involved in the final touches being made.
It appears to have had another touch up in 1950.
Probably replacing missing bits from recent altercations…
This caught my eye during a recent outing with our retired vintner friends who pilot us from vineyard to vineyard (where HeiJo – Heinrich-Josef – invariably moans about the quality of the Riesling)
Not at Weingut Schmitt in Guntersblum, though.
They open their courtyard for a few weeks in the year, serve simple food and their wines.
Nice young waitresses, fabulous walled garden at the back of the property, dropped the hood on the Saab on the way home.
Good day out
