Bonjour, Monsieur – #1471

We’ve known Pierre Schott for ages and a day.

He used to restore scrubbed pine furniture in his workshop in the old Lampenfabrik before it got all gentrified and flashed up, resulting in a rapid departure of all the artisans who enjoyed the cheap rent in a run-down building

We’ve bought some lovely (and unusual) pieces from him and we bump into him now and again.

Business is still ticking over, although the market’s fairly well saturated.

What amazes me, though, is his astounding memory.

He knows where we used to work, what we bought, what our plans are…

Either he doesn’t habve many customers or he’s just interested in people who share his love for traditional furniture.

I suspect the latter….

  1. I do believe you find the most interesting and talented people ! Great portrait. I can tell by his smile that he’s a nice person and I’m sure he’s genuinely interested in his customers.

  2. Your portraits of late are terrific!! I hope that you will post some of the pieces that you purchased from this man with the remarkable memory! You do give your subjects an opportunity to see themselves on your blog, I hope.
