Unless you want to strip the bark to build a canoe, birch trees are a pain in the bum.
Their roots go everywhere, you can’t underplant them particularly successfully and they’re either spreading pollen, distributing seeds or dropping quantities of biomass in the form of leaves.
I’d complain, but it was for free (Ms jb’s dad nicked it from a forest around 30 years ago…)
