Halfway House – #1548

These shop-in-shop bakeries, tucked away in the entrances of supermarkets, fall in between REAL bakeries (start with flour, water and yeast at 4am and make real bread) and the “pressthebuttonforarollfromPoland” outfits featured in this month’s theme day.

They still ship in frozen pucks of dough, but they actually put them in the oven BY HAND, so I guess that’s an improvement of sorts.

Plus some of them have REALLY GOOD espressos.

Like the one in Bretzenheim.

Ideal for a bit of sustenance before hitting the 80 vertical metres-over-3km-in-9 minutes climb
