Monthly Theme Day – October 2012 – Silhouettes – #1674

St Martin will have to do.

I had Kurt Beck, Premier of Rhineland-Palatinate, all lined up for a silhouette portrait, but he held a press conference on Friday to tell the nation that he wasn’t feeling very well and apologised profusely for letting me down. He was so distraught that he even signaled his intent to withdraw from politics entirely at the end of the year.

Feel quite bad about it, to be quite honest.

Never mind. There’s always his successor, a fine looking woman by the name of Malu Dreyer…..

(You DO know that the word comes from an 18thC French politician, Etienne de Silhouette whose name, because of the austere economies he applied in France, became eponymous with anything done or made cheaply and so with these outline portraits. What WOULD we do without Wikipedia..?)
