Sammeltassen #1736

Every Roman Catholic girl of …ahem.. a certain age knows what these are.

Sammeltassen.

Ornately decorated ornamental cup, saucer and plates given as gifts on your first communion.

Just the sort of useful thing a child of 8 or 9 would treasure.

Yeah right.

Mind you, some folk find a use for them – Dicke Lilli, Gutes Kind, a cool new cafe in the Gaustrasse has a wall full of them.

Hope they used strong glue. Flying saucers and all that…

  1. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t learn something useful from you! Actually they are very attractive Sammeltassen. I have a few teacups and saucers in the attic (no matching plates), and I think I’ll fetch them and use them now and then. Perhaps Olivia might enjoy having a real tea party with me. Just the thing for an 11-yr-old girl who is currently captivated by the internet.
