the reliefs near the hilton, facing the rhine, show the seven prince-electors of the medieval holy roman empire (the trhee archbishops of mainz, trier, cologne, the king of bohemia, the pfalzgrafschaft bei rhein” (don’t know the english term …), the duke of saxony and the margrave of brandenburg). the reliefs standing nowadays on the promenade are copies, the originials were mounted on the front of the store at the brand in the 14th century.
Another good photo for theme day; I think I like this a bit better than the one you posted yesterday! Any historical comments on this one for those of us who are gravely ignorant of the background?
