Death in the afternoon

Or maybe not.

2 blackbird chicks prematurely attempted flying lessons from the nest in the honeysuckle yesterday and ended up well away from the nest, mother blackbird following them and feeding them worms.At least one of them survived the night, but I don’t hold out much hope for them, what with the sodding neighbourhood cats lurking around the place….

  1. Cats are, after all, pretty efficient at that.

  2. It’s a tough start. The cat that lives in my house is a good killer. Birds, mice, squirrels, she draws the line ad hedgehogs.
