The risks of fandom

No sooner have you fallen in love with a player and got Gran to buy you his strip for Christmas than another club snaps him up and he’s gone.

As in the case of Johannes Geiss.

Mainz bought him in 2013 for €1.25m, developed him into a player who’s established himself as a key player in the national Under 21 team and sold him for €12m to Shalke 04.

You can buy a lot of t-shirts for that…..
