Up at the Kaffeekommune the other week when 2 ladies walked up, wavering a bit as whether to go in.

“Best coffee in Mainz” I said. “If not the world…”

“Have you ever been to New Zealand? THAT’S the best coffee in the world” asked 0ne of them

“Er, well, yes. Actually, I COME from there” I said.

“You’re kidding” said Gabi Landvogt ” I’m MARRIED to a New Zealander”

“Well, more fool you” I said

Got chatting, turns out that she’s married to a Prof at a university in Kempten who worked for the NZ Government in Wellington, has 2 daughters in Mainz and was here to visit.

Promised to stay in touch (which she did), but what a pleasant surprise when I rocked up to to KK2 today to see her with the whole family (except hubby)
