Thekla, the little sweetie from next door, was christened at the Protestant church in the village last Sunday.

Heaps of folks in addition to what appears to be a sizable regular congregation and a really cool minister.

None of the usual stuff that you hear around these parts – born into the world, saddled with unmentionable sins and you’ve only got a chance of salvation if you do what we tell you and you’re probably going to hell anyway.

No, so refreshingly positive, with a letter to Thekla that he read to her and for her to keep until she can read it herself.

Nice lunch afterwards (didn’t have far to drive….) and then off to watch the All Blacks struggle against Argentina…..
