Interestingly, the word “stranded” means pretty much the same as “beached”

Old English & Germanic Roots: Recorded before the year 1000, the Old English noun strand and Old Frisian strônd meant “sea-shore” or “margin of a stream”. It shares roots with Old Norse (strönd) and modern German (Strand)
