Give us this day….#1936

…our daily Fragaria vesca.

Aka wild strawberry, woodland strawberry, Alpine strawberry, European strawberry, or fraises des bois.

Some plants just TURNED UP unannounced in the flower/herb bed next to the driveway and delight us daily with these berries receptacles.

Strawberries are not true berries.[3] The fleshy and edible part of the fruit is a receptacle, and the parts that are sometimes mistakenly called “seeds” are achenes

If you do some research, you’ll falso ind out that they’ve been around since before homo sapiens climbed down from the trees.

Probably been here once we’ve all gone, too.

Worth sticking around for, though…..
