There’s a joke that my uncle told me…#1937

….that’s not repeatable in polite company i.e. here, but it always springs to mind when I see a canoe.

Two jokes, actually.

I thought of him when I was cruising along the bike track from Eltville to Mainz early (7-ish…) last Friday.

So refreshing to have the world to yourself with the exception of a few folks out walking dogs and some anglers, both on the banks and out on skiffs.

None of these caramel-clad pensioners who weave all over the place and shout at you when you give them a polite “ding-ding” to make them aware of  one’s presence.

Bloody pensioners….

  1. A little solitude is good for the soul. Good photo and I’m inclined to ignore the comment about the “bloody pensioners!”
