I’d have to be really hungry….#1938

..to go to McDonalds or its ilk, but seeing what they’re doing in Mainz gets them a gold star.

For sure.

See the place at the back, nestled among the trees?

That’s one of the apartments in the Fort Stahlberg development.

Knock you back a good €500,000

The places at the front?

€20 a night.

It’s the new Ronald McDonald House, where parents of critically ill children at the University Clinic can stay close to their children in one of 12 apartments with a shared community space and kitchen.

And be at their side within minutes.

Cost €2.5m, mostly covered by donations from the immediate region around Mainz.

Oh, and the €20?

Well, having socialised medicine for EVERYONE means that the health insurance picks up THAT tab…

  1. Those Ronald McDonald houses are a brilliant idea and a gift to the families of sick and hospitalized children!
