Drais is nice #1944

Drais is a village with a fair bit of history.

Settlements dating back to the Celts and the late Iron Age (850–450 B.C.E.). Pretty much par for the course around here.

It got snaffled up by Mainz in 1969 (good way to extend your tax base…), but you wouldn’t really know – it’s MILES from anything vaguely resembling suburbia and an island in an ocean of strawberry fields and orchards.

The place where we go currently has strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, redcurrants and the best apricots I’ve tasted in  a long time.

And Anja, a real sweetie.

  1. No blueberries yet in the forests around Haninge, but we have many cute blonde girls year round.

  2. what a beautiful portrait of miss anja! and those strawberries look amazing!

  3. What a great portrait JB!! And tell Anja, I love her tee shirt tool.

  4. That “real sweetie” is color-coordinated with dress matching the berries. Isn’t this season marvelous and beyond belief? One of my fantasies is to live in a beautiful place where summer harvests are available year round.
