Ms jb’s job for the last 30 odd years was to manage the rentals for a high rise block with 650 apartments.
Last day today and the company’s website is a pretty good reference if she ever wanted another job (instead of staying at home and making sure I toe the line…): No vacancies.
This is what she wrote to her tenants:
Today – after exactly 30 years, 6 months and 9 days – is my last day at VAW.
If one spends almost half one’s life in close contact with over 2000 people from many cultures, countless countries and all social classes, it is inevitable that some people will find a way into your heart.
In our little corner of Gonsenheim, I have followed families with enthusiasm and delight as children were born, grew up and how they themselves have started families.
But I’ve also shed tears for some people I knew for years and who are no longer with us.
It’s only in the last few weeks that I’ve realised how important some acquaintanceships and friendships have become to me
I’ve experienced a wave of affection, hugs, small gifts and yes, there were tears.
I’ve wiped mine away with pride.
It is these relationships that I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life.
Thank you all for the good times we had together.
Ms jb
A fine farewell, and well-deserved gratitude of residents. All the best in your new role, Ms jb,
