First of all, you wouldn’t have got there, all major thoroughfares being blocked by striking workers (making such a din that even I could hear it….)

And if you DID finally make it, there would have been no-one there, the striking workers you’d been crawling behind being the pre-school teachers.

Have a certain amount of sympathy for them, though – in the 10 years to 2013, they had pay rises of 14% compared with 21% for the rest of the workforce.

Which doesn’t seem quite right, given their responsibility for the next generation…
