Scratch a German and you’ll likely find a nature lover hidden inside that humourless exoskeleton.

Proof of this are the nesting structures for storks they’ve set up all over the country, equally spaced and connected by guy-ropes to stop them swaying in the breeze.

At the ends, they appear to be anchored at big power stations.

Haven’t quite worked out why…
