In my defence, I plead clumsiness and a lack of perserverence.

This’ll have to do – heathen traditions in the village.

(I gave the trick’n’treaters an English lesson last night – told them that “Halloween” actually comes from “hollowin'” (which is the English word for “aushöhlen”) as in “hollowin’ out pumpkins”)
