Bernd Meyer-Zawar is Mainz’s Bike Czar and husband of Uli Zawar of “Sonntagskind” fame.

He came perambulating across the market the other day towards the Tin Shed On Wheels and I politely asked him vis a vis the whereabouts of his preferred mode of transportation. (See above)

Turns out that he’s a avid supporter of MVGmeinRad (aka Those Yellow Bikes) and almost had me sold on the concept of paying €59 a year and getting the first 30 minutes of rental for free.

And given that you get from anywhere to anywhere in Mainz with 30 minutes, it’s a pretty good deal.

Wished I actually LIVED in Mainz…..
