If there’s one football (soccer to you…) team that polarises in Germany, it’s Bayern Munich.
Hugely successful (which in itself generates a huge following – who wants to go through the annual agonies of “Will we be relegated…again?” as do the faithful Mainz 05 supporters) and arrogant with it.
I don’t really care for their big-headedness or the way they throw money around (€37m yesterday for a 20 year old genius) , but my goodness, aren’t they playing some cracking football this year.
20 points clear at the top of the First Division table, championship wrapped up 6 games before the end of the season, in the final of what passes here for the FA Cup and (as good as) in the finals of the Champions League after their 4-0 trouncing of Barcelona last night.
Which I witnessed on Pay TV at the Goldener Adler in Gonsenheim with my mate Christoph and a pub jam-packed with rabid Bayern fans.
A fine time was had by all.

You should have seen us when the goals were scored. Or when the penalties were denied…….. And that is NOT the time to take photos.
