Gardens in Gonso

Screen Shot 2015-06-21 at 10.43.16The land adjacent to the rivulet that is now the Gonsbach has been flooded and enriched with alluvial soil ever since this region went from being a sub-tropical swamp to the nicest suburb in Mainz.

There’s still a lot of market gardening activity, but a lot of area has gradually morphed into very pleasant gardens, 12 or so of which are opened free of charge for Saturday afternoon every year in June for people to enjoy and admire.

Boy Scouts make a mint selling coffee and cake and a fine time is had by all….
